Facility Maintenance Technician (Entry Level)

Addison, TX
Full Time
Entry Level

PlaneSmart! Aviation is hiring an entry-level Facility Maintenance Technician (FMT) to help keep our hangar and office environment clean, safe, organized, and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role for someone mechanically inclined who takes pride in doing the basics really well—and who’s interested in learning how a business aviation operation works.

What you’ll do

Daily Facility Upkeep

  • General facility maintenance: light bulb changes, minor repairs, basic troubleshooting, and preventative checks

  • Keep hangar and office areas clean and presentable (janitorial tasks, trash removal, restrooms, break areas)

  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards in work areas and common spaces

Supplies & Organization

  • Restock and organize facility supplies (paper products, cleaning supplies, shop basics)

  • Run local errands/supply runs as needed

  • Help keep storage areas, closets, and maintenance supplies organized and inventoried

Vendor Coordination (Support Role)

  • Submit and track work orders for third-party vendors (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roll-up doors, etc.)

  • Escort vendors on-site, communicate job needs, and ensure work areas are accessible

  • Report completion status and any follow-up needs to leadership/ops

Operations Support (Light)

  • Coordinate with line service / hangar teams for access, timing, and work area readiness

  • Help with simple setup tasks for meetings, small events, and visiting guests as needed

What we’re looking for

  • Entry-level: some experience in facilities, maintenance, warehouse, construction, auto shop, or general “hands-on” work is helpful

  • Mechanically inclined, dependable, and willing to learn

  • Comfortable following checklists and documenting what was done (basic notes/photos)

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail (especially on cleanliness and safety)

  • Able to lift/carry typical supplies and be on your feet throughout the day

  • Valid driver’s license and comfortable making local supply runs

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with basic hand/power tools

  • Familiarity with work order systems (even informal)

  • Interest in aviation, airport operations, or working around aircraft

Growth potential (not a promise, but real exposure)

This role works alongside an aviation operations environment. For the right person, it can be a solid starting point to learn the business, build trust, and explore future paths (for example: facilities → line support → aviation maintenance support).
